Contemporary bathroom renovation
We created a light and airy family bathroom for our clients to relax in, in Glasgow's West End.
The Challenge
Our clients had a very dated and poorly laid out bathroom dating back to the 1980's. It lacked daylight, ventilation and was in great need of upgrading. Fran and Doug approached us because of our design skills and our ability to translate these into a beautiful bathroom for them and their kids.
The Solution
Having stripped out the existing bathroom and dwarf walls, we exposed rafters and installed new Velux windows. This flooded the room with light and immediately made it more welcoming and bright. We used Pinterest to develop a moodboard and share images with our client. Our joiners did a great job of assembling the reclaimed timber to create a backdrop to the crisp white sanitaryware. Our tilers rose to the challenge of installing tiles in an unusual herringbone field.
The Results
Fran and Doug's love of antiques and reclaimed items were incorporated into the overall design. The refurbished bathroom is now bright, modern and full of character.
We had some strong ideas for how our dream bathroom would look, but little clarity on how it would work or all come together.
When we had our first consultation with nest, they listened intently to what we wanted, and all through the project they kept our wishes central to the plan, while giving inspiring ideas and guidance for how to practically resolve issues. They conscientiously worked within our budget and went the extra mile to find high quality fittings at the best possible price.
The workmen who came were all very skilled and pleasant to have in our home. The finish showed a high level of craftsmanship, and nest clearly took a real pride in making sure that we were totally satisfied.
We think that the end result is utterly stunning, and guests regularly compliment us saying that they think they have stepped into a boutique hotel. We couldn’t be happier."
