Modern sandstone house extension

We built a gorgeous sandstone house extension and created a spacious, dream kitchen, dining room, utility and bathroom for our clients in Glasgow's South Side

The Challenge

Our clients Fiona and Jonathan had already appointed an architect and we translated their drawings into a well crafted, modern, spacious extension. The works also involved major demolition and steelworks, all whilst the clients lived in their property. During the works we uncovered existing beams and walls which were not supported, however our team worked quickly to ensure safety and stability on site.

The Solution

Our builders did a remarkable job of removing internal walls to create a bright and open kitchen which leads directly into a dining area. A bespoke hand made kitchen complete with Aga was installed along with a wood burning stove in the lounge. The honed sandstone extension houses a new utility room leading to a contemporary bathroom and a new internal wc was formed from an internal cupboard. External landscaping completed the project which completely transforms the house and creates a most enviable property in Pollockshields, Glasgow.

The Results

The house has been completely transformed and Fiona now has the kitchen she has always dreamt of.

The utility/shower room extension was built to a precise standard in our conservation area house. The kitchen involved knocking down a number of supporting walls and making a few unexpected discoveries in the process. The unexpected was dealt with immediately and professionally.

We love the inventive use of resources. The new kitchen area revolutionises the house, looks fabulous and the fabric of our home is better now than it has been for decades. The design was challenging however the result is stunning."
